Theres no surprise that I love everything on a screen. Films and TV are a very integral part of my life, they make me laugh and feel my happiness and then allow me to cry when Im sad. I can't see a day when I will not want to escape into a good story, so here's a list of everything that Ive watched this year so far.
Streaming platforms I watch on:
Tv list:
Modern Family: Netflix and Season 10 on Now TV
I LOVE THIS SHOW SO MUCH. I cannot tell you how quickly it got to the top of my favourites list but I just truly escape in the humour and the connections to characters within this show. The episodes are only 20 minutes so lovely to watch just one while getting ready or binge in a day!
Heres a super old trailer for the first season!
Bridgerton: Netflix
This was such a phenomenon and I can really see why. I love the mystery that entangles this show and the cast does such a good job at portraying each characters personalities.
The Crown: Netflix
Im still delving into this one. Im enjoying learning about the history of the royal family and picking at both the fact and fiction parts of the stories.
Chilling Adventures of Sabrina: Netflix
I have loved Sabrina from Episode 1 and I must admit that its got a little more lapse as it went on but season 4 really pulled it back for me. It ended a fabulous franchise in a way that rounds it off but you still wish there was more.
Camp Cretaceous : Netflix
Tom loves dinosaurs. We both love Jurassic Park so starting to watch this was an easy decision. We loved how this story went parallel to the films and events that happened in the films effected things that happened in the show, it made the continuity of it really flow. We also enjoyed the different story lines and how its now leading up to the next film. Theres currently 3 season and were hoping for a fourth.
Fate: The Winx Saga : Netflix
I must admit, out of all the shows Ive watched so far, this is the one that I can remember the least of. I think I binged it pretty quickly in lockdown but I don't think Im too bothered about rewatching it.. The characters were hit and miss on whether I connected or related with them but I also didn't watch the Winx Club cartoon its slightly based on.
Firefly Lane: Netflix
I cannot wait for season 2 to come out! I will 100% binge season 1 again before I watch it though and have a good old cry! This show was such a warm hug during lockdown of emotions, relatable life choices and one big ol' friendship.
Superstore: Netflix and ITV
This was such a funny show, I believe you can watch the last season on ITV Hub at the moment. Tom loved going into work and having situations that happen in real life relate to stuff that happens in his own store... He works at Morrisons which is a grocery store..
Ginny and Georgia: Netflix
Im not sure how I feel about this show, it was a rollercoaster. It had such its high points where you are just so high of all of the love and friendships but then it crashes you down to a point where you don't feel good when the episode is over. I think looking back it really did make you feel the way the main characters do, but I wouldn't recommend putting this one on when youre having a bad day.
The Bold Type: Netflix
Now this, this you should put on when youre having a bad day.. This is the advice you never had, the friends you wish you had (not that yours aren't great I'm sure..) and the job you now want to change your aspirations to achieve. I started out thinking this was a mix of Gilmore Girls and Sex in the City, now I just love how it highlights every single thing people need to know that going on in the world for women and shines a light on how people deal and can help people deal with them, good or bad! It makes me tear up so much but I can't stop watching!! Turns out its actually based on the life of an editor at Cosmo!!
Clone Wars: Disney+
Star Wars will always be in this household, whether were watching a show or Toms buying some merchandise.. but we just had to watch this show and understand more about the galaxy far far away..
The Circle: UK=Channel 4 US= Netflix
I watched the UK circle live on TV as it happened this year, for the first time. Neither me or Tom are reality TV people (or so I thought) but we were HOOKED! Who knew we got so invested into the decision making of random strangers!
Marriage or Mortgage: Netflix
Anything to do with homes and I'm there. I love styling homes, even when Im not very good at it and even watching empty house tours, I just love it. Im also obsessed with weddings and just all the love and beauty of the day so watching a show where 2 women do that exact thing.. Give me a season 2.
High School Musical: The Musical: The Series: Disney+
Now Ive only watched season 1 so don't come at me with the spoilers just yet but HSM: The Series took me back to being a pre-teen again and even the music just makes me happy.
Wandavision: Disney+
The first of the Disney+ Marvel shows and it didn't disappoint. I don't want to give any spoilers but if you haven't watched it yet, just stick with it okay .. it'll all make sense by the end.
Falcon and the Winter Soldier: Disney+
Sadly, as much as I love these characters, again this is the one I can remember the least about. The storyline was great and I loved the message they were portraying throughout the whole thing but I wouldn't rush to rewatch it again until it becomes relevant in the next instalment of the MCU.
Loki: Currently Watching: Disney+
How great is Tom Hiddleston. Loki is so mischievous and rash that anything with him in, I just don't know what's going to be next and I love that! This series is exactly that! I have no idea where its going but Im loving finding out!
Film list:
Wonder: Netflix
Owen Wilson and Julia Roberts are 2 actors that's I've grown up with and I love them both so much, I just find them so relaxing even in high intensity situations. Wonder was such a cute film and I love that its all about just accepting everyone and being nice to each other.
Instant Family: Netflix
Mark Walburg has always in my head been a dad, his whole acting persona has always been a day so I can't imagine anyone else playing the role he did in this better than him. The whole cast humour as well as vulnerability just blended so well to make this comedy about adoption.
Prom: Netflix
This film was split down the middle with people who enjoyed it and people who turned it off half way through. I thought the message it was giving was important and the empowerment through music was uplifting but I can see how the storyline was just a bit of a simplistic one for a film with its budget.
Tag: Netflix
Such a great concept for a film, again simplistic but it had the humour, the chase and the cast. I really enjoyed this one but I wouldn't rush to watch it again.
Sightless: Netflix
The idea of this film had great potential but its such a shame it was always going to be so predictable. It was dramatic but not as jumpy or scary as I thought it would be.
All the bright places: Netflix
Such a sad movie. It really did have a bunch of bright places within a dark place. I use to think this is just so sad and I feel so bummed after watching it, but now I realise the whole film is just the feeling of the main character.
Finding Ohana: Netflix
Some films you can just tell are Netflix original films and this is one. This storyline is almost very 2000s, just a good ol' sibling adventure that leaves you with the moral of family is very important.
Greta:Netflix
Now this was a less predictable (still a little if you really think about it and watch the trailer) film, which I really wanted to see when it was initially released but I missed. I thought it was a good one to watch at home as its not too scary but teaches the good lesson of don't trust strangers.
The Time Travellers Wife: Netflix
This is a lovely throwback to my early teen years as it was ALWAYS on TV so I loved it, but its such a great romance. Rachel McAdams is the same in everything so if youre a fan then definitely give this one a watch.
Always be my maybe: Netflix
Another Netflix Original. A typical RomCom, which is alright but it probably wouldn't watch it again any time soon.
The final girls: Netflix
I watched this with my friend because we both loved Taissa Farmiga in American Horror Story, and it was OK. It came out in 2015 but I would have guessed earlier than that. If you want a horror that's not too gory or jumpy then this is a good starting place.
Yes Day: Netflix
Just your typical family fun film where each of the characters realises their faults by the end of the film and they all live happily ever after. A good one to watch with people of all ages.
Esio Trot: Netflix
Roald Dahl was my man when it came to storybooks for the longest time, so any movie based off of his films is right up my alley. This ones super cute and heartwarming!
The Woman in the Window: Netflix
Not too predictable but if it was this or something else Id probably choose the something else, just because this drags on for a bit. The cast does act it out pretty well and make it believable though.
The Devil Wears Prada - Disney+
Another blast from the past, doesn't particularly age well into the feminist ideals we have today but it'll always be in the top 5 of one of my favourite actresses films- Anne Hathaway.
Shrek: Netflix
If you've not watched Shrek then add it to your To Do List.
Leap Year : Netflix (no longer)
A typical Amy Adams romcom where the 2 main characters dislike each other to start and are in love by the end. Were there any other ways to write a romcom in the late 2000s..
Thunder Force: Netflix
Melissa McCarthys humour is my sort of humour, but if you don't like her then you won't enjoy this film. Its SO silly and total fiction but Octavia Spencer balances out the silliness nicely with her levelheaded character. I do enjoy a good film about friendship instead of consistent romantic storylines too.
Love and Monsters: Netflix
Not your typical romance movie but gave me lots of Percy Jackson vibes. The cast played their characters really well and I enjoyed the twist towards the end.
Things Seen and Heard: Netflix
This film has lots of hidden meanings which reminded me of a way less confusing Mother! but it just left me a bit wondering what I watched.
Fatherhood: Netflix
I LOVE IT. Now Ive watched it, I wouldn't watch it again, but this is such a cute film. I love seriousish Kevin Hart films where he's not just being a comedian but still has his quippy lines and humour within it.
Raya and the Last Dragon: Disney+
What a great film. Its a typical Disney where the bad guy doesn't turn out to be a bad guy, there's a cute animal sidekick and the moral is believing in yourself and others, but the entire quest of the film and overall feel was just fun.
Cruella: Disney+ Premier Access
Whoever pitched having Emma Stone be Cruella needs a gold star and a pay rise because that casting was absolute perfection. There is a big gap between now and when 101 Dalmatians first came out so things they added into that wouldn't be acceptable to put in a film now, so I understand how they couldn't make her as evil as she is in the original but the ending of Cruella put a little confusion on her character progression between this and her role in 101 Dalmatians. As a whole though I think this was a great origin story for her.
Luca: Disney+
This was AMAZING! It truly made me want to go to Italy even more than I already do and really taught me the value in friendship. What a beautiful film for the whole family. It was such an easy watch with all the feels!
And that's it!! From here I will be doing monthly watched round ups! Hope you find something that takes your fancy and have a great tv binge :) XX
